Purpose is defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Destiny is defined as a predetermined course of events.
Christian purpose is singular in focus as it relates to all we do as Christians. We should seek to bring glory and honor to God in every real time right now situation because God created all of creation for His good and perfect will. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day (Genesis 1.31 – NLT).
In this series of teachings entitled, “Divine Purpose – Divine Destiny”, I will review the total package of personhood from a bible centered, God centered viewpoint.
Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person (Genesis 2.7 – NLT). The Hebrew word ruah or ruach is translated into the English word breath, spirit – the breath of life.
God formed Adam [mankind] from the dust of the earth but Adam did not become a living being until God breathed life into the body He created for Adam.
“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4.24 – NLT). The Greek word pneuma is translated into the English word spirit/soul which can be considered as the engine that drives/powers the physical body. Without the spirit/soul the body is not alive. To state further, who you really are, who I really am and who other people really are is centered in their spirit – the area of heart, mind, will and emotions.
God desires to connect in a spiritual manner with every person but only those people who place their trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ will connect with God the Father of Jesus in a holy spiritual relationship.
From a physical perspective, we as humans spend quality time with family and relatives in order to build a closer bond, a closer relationship. In other words, in spending time with family and relatives we become more intimate in our relationship.
So, it is with God. He desires to spend quality spiritual time with us. The more time we spend with Him the more intimate we become with Him and by doing so our spirit [the spirit He has loaned us for a season on this earth] will connect with His Spirit on a deeper spiritual level. It is from within this spiritual connection that we as Christians will understand our purpose is tied to our destiny and that our destiny is tied to our purpose. Are you spending quality time with your Maker?
And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength (Deuteronomy 6.5 – NLT). In other words, in all that you are, in all that I am, in all of our existence while on this earth, you, me and every Christian should strive to bring glory unto the LORD God in every real time right now situation. Blessings to you!
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect (Romans 12.1-2).
Amen to pastor Holloman and sister Holloman for the united work they're doing moving the ministry forward. It is so rewarding to be connected each wednesday with like believers sharing and studying God's word and identifying our purpose which God has called us for. To Him be all glory all honor and all praise!
What a very encouraging Word we received from the Lord through Rev Emmanuel Holloman on last night during our Bible study. It was refreshing to my soul & spirit to see how the mighty hand of God defeated all the so call gods of Egypt when He brought the plagues upon them. It reminded me that the Lord is the same yesterday, today, & forever and the problems that we face in our daily lives are nothing compared to the PROBLEM SOLVER that supplies us with His grace and power to overcome them all. HALLELUJAH and Thank you Jesus!
